In The Studio With: Laarni Gedo Reading Lot (of) People: Episode 1 2 minutes

Basking in the summer sun lies the California beachside parking lot. This meeting point is a place for burgeoning friendships, wave-side cookouts, quiver keeping, and long tailgate conversations. The parking lot is a unique aspect of California culture, where lovers of the beach and surf come together to enjoy this social and oceanic playground.

In capturing the special feeling of summer in California, we turned to the Malibu Parking Lot and all the people who make it so magical. Each character is their own, bringing their style to the waves and smiles to the lot. “Lot (of) People” celebrates the essence of Malibu First Point through the finesse, silliness, and kindness of six surfers, Lulu Erkeneff, Frankie Seely, Elle Overs, Carolyn Day, Raven Scott, and Star Delia. We find what makes California surf culture so special. Captured by Ruthie Glauber, this series brings surfing back to its raw, gritty, and playful roots with a modern twist.

Even when lineups are crowded and there are a lot of people, there is always space at The Bu, whether in the waves, on the beach, or coming together in the parking lot. Through friendship, collective kinship, and the summer zing, we find the best people (a lot of them) and see their take on surfing all that Malibu has to offer.
